Description
Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse position is based in an acute care setting specializing in adult patient care. The role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions, primarily focusing on post-operative and general medical-surgical cases. The position is scheduled for night shifts, with a commitment of 12 hours per shift, and is suitable for candidates adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, beginning on 09/28/2026 and ending on 01/11/2027.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, and at least 1 year of clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing.
- Patient Census & Ratios: Typically 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, depending on staffing.
- Unit Details: 21 beds, all private except for one semi-private room; overhead lift equipment available; bedside report and patient rounding required.
- Duties & Responsibilities: Vital signs, baths, activity, accu-cheks, Foley catheter management, and assisting with patient activities.
- Additional Info: Float to other general medical units; may assist in emergency or intensive care units occasionally.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) required.
- Shift Details: 3-12s (7a-7:30p days) or 3-12s (7p-7:30a nights); self-scheduling available; potential weekend work every other weekend; holiday shifts on a negotiable basis.
- Other Requirements: No call shifts; attire in any color scrubs, with specific dress code attire; orientation includes 3 days with preceptor.
