Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) located in Madison, WI, is seeking a highly skilled registered nurse to join their dynamic team. The role involves providing specialized care for adult and geriatric patients requiring cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplants, and advanced cardiac procedures. This position offers the opportunity to work in a Magnet-designated hospital known for clinical excellence and innovative patient care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, working 0700-1930 and 1900-0730, with every other weekend and some holidays, no call.
• Required Qualifications: Active RN license in WI or a compact license; ACLS and BLS certification; minimum 2 years of recent inpatient critical care experience within the last 3 years in cardiothoracic or CVICU settings; experience with NextStage CVVH machine; COVID-19 vaccination not required; flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only).
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas; familiarity with Epic charting system; previous charge experience; at least 2-3 years of patient ratio experience in ICU; travel experience preferred.
• Skills: Advanced management of arterial lines, chest tubes, CVVHD/CRRT, Impella, IABP, LVAD, ECMO, and telemetry interpretation; ventilator management; administration of blood products and emergency medications; proficiency in invasive line management and pacemaker care; ability to handle complex cardiac and thoracic cases with technological expertise.
• Additional Information: This role involves caring for patients with high acuity, including those recovering from cardiac surgeries, transplants, and managing various life-support devices. The position requires passing a telemetry test with strict criteria prior to start, with up to two attempts allowed. Must pass a cardiac interpretation review course if initial attempts are unsuccessful. The unit supports interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social services, with flexible staff assignments based on patient acuity and transfers.
