Description

Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in a high-acuity step-down unit at an Alaska healthcare facility. The role involves delivering comprehensive patient care for a diverse patient population requiring continuous monitoring and advanced interventions. This contract assignment is scheduled to start on September 15, 2026, and extends through December 15, 2026, with a shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours per week.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience, 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience, active Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission, ACLS, BLS, NIH-SS certification
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPap/long-term ventilator support, experience with titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, and experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
  • Patient Ratios: 3:1
  • Unit Equipment: Bedside monitors, Alaris intravenous (IV) pumps, heated humidity high flow oxygen, BiPap, chest tubes, tracheostomy, kangaroo feeding pumps, gastric tubes, surgical drains
  • Type of staff: Night shift includes 1 charge RN and 6 RNs
  • Additional Information: All required certifications must be current, and candidates should demonstrate a positive, team-focused personality capable of adapting to a busy, fast-paced environment. Physical assessments and patient safety rounds are required every 4 hours, with bedside handoff mandatory.
  • Application Instructions: Candidates must have completed Alaska RN fingerprints during onboarding to be eligible for work.
