Description

Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse position located in an acute care setting. The role involves delivering specialized nursing care to neonates in a Level IV NICU, including assessments, procedures, and medication administration. The position requires working rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, including every other weekend, with floating responsibilities to PEDS and PICU units.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts, including every other weekend, with minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Newborn Drug (ND) and Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license (willing to obtain), active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification, minimum 2 years neonatal experience, ability to administer medications through PICC line, and performing neonatal assessments.
  • Experience with EPIC (Electronic Medical Record Software) highly preferred.
  • Level IV NICU experience verified by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
  • Proficient in procedures including intubation, spinal taps, PICC line placement, IV starts, and admissions.
  • Skills checklists must include floating to PEDS and PICU units.
  • Ability to implement feeding strategies such as G-tubes, CPAP, nasal cannula, and medication administration via IV and oral routes.
  • Demonstrated competency with equipment including conventional and high-frequency ventilators, nitric oxide, MedFusion pumps, and Smart pumps.
  • Orientation involves a two-day training with a buddy on unit norms and infant assessment levels, along with Epic documentation training.
  • Scrub color specified as child-friendly with role-specific colored pants.
  • Must meet local travel requirements: candidates living within 80 miles of the facility will be considered with a client rate reduction of $8.00/hour.
  • Previous employment with Sanford Health must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission.
