Job Summary
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Nurse Madison, WI
This position involves providing specialized nursing care within an intermediate care setting for adult and geriatric patients. The role requires critical thinking, teamwork, and the ability to perform complex procedures, including thoracic surgeries, in a Magnet-designated facility.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: WI Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license, ACLS, BLS certifications, minimum of 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty they are submitting to, and experience with telemetry, oncology, cardiac, and progressive care units.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, working a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Responsibilities:
- Join a thoracic surgery team caring for patients with lung and esophageal diseases, including lobectomies and decortications.
- Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion within the unit.
- Engage in developing a dynamic general care/IMC unit utilizing teamwork, critical thinking, and evidence-based nursing practices.
- Work with ICU or IMC post-operative patients, including those requiring vent management and transplant experience.
- Pass telemetry interpretation test prior to employment start.
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS.
- Additional Information: Must be willing to work in both the IMC Acute Medical/Progressive Care unit and IMC Thoracic unit, including working some holidays and every other weekend. Floating as needed is required. Two years of inpatient RN experience in the specialty is required.
- Submittal Requirements: Candidate must pass telemetry interpretation tests (adult and pediatric) with strict passing criteria, including two attempts.
