Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor registered nurses working in a Neuro unit will provide care for patients with a variety of neurological conditions, including stroke, seizures, post-operative spine surgeries, and neurological disorders. This role involves delivering high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced, acute care environment during night shifts, with a focus on safety, proficiency in neuro protocols, and adherence to unit standards.

Job Details:

• Location: Neuro unit in an acute care facility
• Schedule: Full-time night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with weekends and holidays as needed, totaling at least 36 hours per week
• Required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) NIHSS must be in hand at the time of submission; ACLS is preferred
• Consolidated Qualifications: Valid RN license, minimum 2 years of nursing experience, NIHSS certification in hand at submission, experience with Epic electronic medical record system, strong neuro experience, proficiency with G-tubes, and experience managing neuro patient protocols
• Preferred Qualifications: Recent Epic experience, experience with titratable drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
• Team and Operational Details: Charge Nurse and House Supervisor coverage 24/7, nurse aides (3 per shift) with ratios of approximately 1:7-10, RT available 24/7 (vent management handled by RT and physicians), telemetry monitoring with documentation verification but not strip reading required, possible floating to other units as needed
• Additional Information: Unit has specific notes on patient diagnoses, equipment management including floor vents (managed by RT & physicians), and flexible scheduling with opportunities for three consecutive shifts. Travelers should be adaptable and available for a rotational holiday and weekend schedule.
