Description
Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) nursing role in a trauma level 1 acute care setting. The position involves providing care on various units supporting medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, and observation patient populations. The assignment emphasizes trauma experience, sterile procedure skills, and the ability to float across units as needed.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 11/02/2026 and ending on 02/01/2027. Shifts are scheduled 4 weeks in advance and may be changed two weeks prior based on hospital needs.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; must have at least 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical with Telemetry units; familiarity with Level I trauma center operations; must pass a basic dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% within two attempts; willingness to wait for license submission.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior trauma center and teaching hospital experience; NIHSS certification is preferred but not required.
- Additional Information: Candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in Med/Surg/Telemetry. The unit supports complex patient care, including oncology, lung transplant, cardiac surgery, stroke, neuro, epilepsy, ENT, and migraines, with ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:6. Float rotation is required, covering multiple units including neuro, cardiac, and surgical zones, with coverage extending to Westgate and Laveen units.
- Orientation: Two shifts of orientationone in the unit and one in emergency department holds, with a possible third if needed.
- Staffing notes: All reports are completed at the bedside, and a quality skin assessment is performed within the first four hours of each shift. The hospital permits cancellation of up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment.
- Charting System: Cerner.
- Shift Details: No call requirement; standby response time is 30 minutes. Assignment sheets are provided at the charge RN station; change department codes accordingly.
- Holidays: Holiday shifts are required based on unit needs.
- Weekend Requirement: Four weekend shifts every four weeks.
- License to Submit: Yes, willing to wait.
