Description

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a healthcare facility located in Shelby, North Carolina. This role involves providing patient care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including heart failure, dysrhythmias, chest pain, stroke, respiratory illnesses, infections, diabetes, and more. The RN will work the night shift on a 12-hour schedule, contributing to a team-focused, family-oriented unit that emphasizes quality care and teamwork.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nightshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensed RN certification; BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; 18 months of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN experience; Ability to handle patients with traches, cardiac gtt, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, management of central lines; Experience with traches, cardiac gtt, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, management of central lines.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EMR systems, EPIC; Ability to float within the region and scope of practice, including facilities in Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH).
  • Support Within the Department: CNA support for ADLs; charge nurse resources; phlebotomy services (excluding nurse draws); RT, hospitalist, intensivist, and telemedicine support available 24/7.
  • Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record system; Phillips monitors; Alaris infusion pumps with alarms; Omnicell medication dispensing.
  • Additional Information: Orientation includes 2 days of departmental training; units operate on a family-oriented culture. Weekend rotations occur every other week; low census call possible. Holiday work is approximately 75% of the time; up to 6 days off RTO can be approved, with additional time added if needed to meet contracted hours; schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks.
