Description

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) registered nurse position in an acute care setting. This role involves providing care for laboring, postpartum, and well newborn patients, including handling high-risk scenarios such as hypertensive crises and hemorrhage. The nurse will work autonomously, utilizing advanced skills like newborn stabilization and titrating drips, in a unit with a dedicated C-section suite and adherence to AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios.

Job Details:

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with weekends and holidays scheduled equitably, and on-call after hours with a 30-minute response time.
Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and STABLE certification. Two years of labor and delivery experience, with recent strong labor or postpartum experience, and familiarity with high-risk obstetric cases including hypertensive crisis and hemorrhage protocols. Experience with newborn stabilization and managing laboring patients independently is essential. Ability to titrate mag, pitocin, and insulin drips is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing newborn stabilization, comfort working with OB in-hospital and managing labor cases autonomously, and familiarity with electronic fetal monitoring systems.
Additional Information: The unit has six well-equipped beds with 24/7 in-house obstetrician and neonatologist coverage shared with hospitalists, on-call anesthesiology, and no current nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit. Self-scheduling includes a single facility orientation day plus two 12-hour shifts on the unit. Floating assistance may be required occasionally, with a focus on safety and task completion. Candidate addresses will be verified to ensure compliance with the 50-mile radius rule.
