Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Specialty Nurse in a hospital setting. This position involves providing specialized care for patients with cardiac and intermediate care needs. The role requires clinical expertise, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to manage a variety of patient conditions on a busy unit.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shift from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, approximately 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of recent experience in a PCU, Stepdown, or Telemetry unit, with experience in cardiac-focused care and managing drips such as amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, and insulin.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) procedures.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit staffing includes a charge nurse who typically does not take patients unless on rare occasions.
  • Nurse aides or patient care technicians assist on the unit, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5.
  • RNs are expected to troubleshoot telecommunication equipment like BIPAP and high-flow oxygen devices, and read tele monitor stripsdedicated monitor tech support is available.
  • Floating to Intensive Care Units and Medical-Surgical floors is required based on patient census.
  • Volunteer to self-schedule shifts; will consider requests.
  • 4 weekend days per month and 3 out of 5 holidays are required.
  • Uniform is navy blue scrubs.
  • Orientation includes 1 day of hospital-specific clinical education and 1 day of unit-specific training.
  • The assignment start date is 10/05/2026, ending on 01/04/2027.
