Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) positions are available in a critical access facility located approximately 38 miles northwest of Bangor, Maine. These positions involve supporting a busy surgical department with a variety of case types, including general, orthopedic, podiatry, gynecology, obstetrics, endoscopic, and urology procedures. The assignment begins on 10/26/2026 and concludes on 01/23/2027, with shifts scheduled from Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 07:00 to 16:30, with a total of 40 hours per week. The department is closed on Fridays.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Certifications: RN with BLS, ACLS, PALS; CST with BLS and CST certification.
  • Education & Experience: RN and CST must have at least 2 years of OR experience. Candidates with 1 year of OR experience may be considered if experienced with all specialties offered at the facility.
  • Location Requirements: Candidates must be eligible for licensure to practice as an RN or CST in Maine.
  • Additional Skills:
    • RNs: Experience circulating a variety of case types as listed. Comfort with learning pre-op/PACU duties and monitoring cardiac rhythms is required.
    • CSTs: Ability to scrub across various case types, including general, ortho, GYN, endoscopic, and urology cases.
  • Technology Skills: Preference for Cerner EMR experience; ability to learn EMR systems quickly if no prior experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner EMR and prior exposure to the specified case types.
• Support on the Unit: No anesthesiologists; support from supervising CRNAs and Charge RN. No transporters or housekeeping staff provided, so candidates must be comfortable with patient transport and room turnover responsibilities.
• Technology/Equipment: Use of Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing system.
• Orientation: Four shifts of department-based orientation; buddy call during orientation is optional but expected to take call independently starting week two.
• Call and Weekend Rotation:
  • Call shifts (4-8 per month, 4:30 pm7:00 am) with a 20-minute response time, including one weekend of call per month.
  • Call shifts may involve responding during major holidays; holiday call coverage may be required on one summer and one winter holiday.
• Additional Notes: Scrubs are provided; free parking is available. No floating staff; strict shift schedule with no forced overnight or weekend work apart from call.
