Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit registered nurses (RNs) are responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals requiring a stepdown level of care. This position is located on a 16-bed medical-surgical unit specializing in oncology, chemo, and mixed acuity patients. The role requires adaptability to care for patients ranging from Med Surg to Stepdown and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in stepdown, telemetry, or higher acuity units; experience with ports, PCA, epidural pumps, electrolyte replacement, comfort measures, palliative care, lipids, and TPN; current licensure as a registered nurse.
• Preferred Qualifications: Chemo certification.
• Float: Float to mixed acuity only.
• Additional Information:
  • Orientation consists of 24 hours (3 days), including 1 twelve-hour shift at the end of week one and 1 at the start of week two.
  • The unit fosters a collaborative, team-focused culture emphasizing excellent patient care and supportive colleagues.
  • The team utilizes technology such as Cerner EMR, IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and specific equipment including sera steady, Arjo lifts, kangaroo pumps, and sapphire pumps for PCA.
  • The shift coordinator during daytime hours; nursing staff may be responsible for lab collection; resource teams include sepsis, rapid response, and vascular access.
  • Travel nurses must be comfortable caring for a range of patient acuities from Med Surg to Stepdown.
