Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) Nights This role involves providing high-quality patient care within a specialized unit focused on patients requiring a higher level of monitoring than general medical-surgical units. The RN will oversee patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and ensure safety and quality care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education, Degree, Location, and Experience Requirements: BLS Certification required prior to first shift; ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH only); minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience highly desired; critical care experience required; specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU); shift: Nights; hours: 12 hours; minimum hours per week: 48.
• Performs a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis for individualized care plans.
• Provides patient information and status updates for team conferences and weekly evaluations, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and responses.
• Participates in and supports patient rehabilitation programs, utilizing the nursing process to deliver comprehensive care focused on patient and family education.
• Initiates discharge planning from the day of admission, including patient teaching related to post-hospital care.
• Communicates significant changes in patient status to support continuity of care and patient safety, collaborating closely with physicians and team members.
• Supervises ancillary nursing staff, delegates tasks appropriately, and provides direction and training to foster an efficient work environment.
• Ensures safety practices are followed concerning patient handling, infectious diseases, and work environment hazards.
• Assumes charge responsibility following orientation, actively pursuing ongoing professional development through continuing education.
• Maintains effective communication with the management team regarding supplies, equipment, and clinical needs.
• Performs other duties as requested.
