Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician in the ORT (Operating Room Technology) specialty located in the area. This position involves selecting and placing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. The role includes preparing for surgeries, anticipating surgeon needs, maintaining aseptic technique, and assisting with operating room turnover, ensuring patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Job Details

• Position Description: The role involves preparing for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper functioning, and reviewing case carts for accuracy. The technician will pass instruments, retract tissue, operate equipment during surgery, and dispose of sharps and trash in accordance with safety protocols. They will ensure the accuracy of surgeon preference cards and assist with OR turnover activities, including stocking and replenishing supplies.
• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; must be registered with State Regulatory Agency where applicable; manual dexterity and ability to respond quickly in emergent situations; minimum of 2 years' experience as an Operating Room Technician; previous travel experience preferred.
• Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week. Shift: 0645-1915, 3 days per week, Friday through Sunday; no call required.
• Additional Information: The position requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching frequently, with the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Use of standard precautions is mandatory due to exposure risks. The technician must stay current with developments in the field and respond promptly to the needs of surgeons and patients.
