Job Summary
A Peri Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is available in a healthcare facility in Lewiston, Maine. The role involves providing postoperative recovery care in a 19-bed unit that handles a broad patient demographic, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations. This position offers variable shifts and is ideal for candidates with a strong background in ambulatory and inpatient care, trauma, and recovery procedures.

Job Details

• Position Description: Peri Anesthesia RN for a 19-bed unit comprising pre-operative, same-day surgery, and Phase I Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Required Qualifications: Certifications include ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Education and experience requirements include current RN licensure with at least 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Shift: Variable shifts between 5:00 am and 8:00 pm, with a weekly guarantee of 36 hours.
• Responsibilities: Managing arterial lines, recognizing and managing dysrhythmias, administering medications including blood products and emergency drugs, and caring for ventilated patients. Procedures performed include IV starts, central line management, and wound Vacs, among others.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma level III centers, teaching hospitals, and proficiency with Cerner EMR or prior charge nurse experience.
• Additional Information: This role involves working with diverse surgical specialties such as ENT, Gyn, Ortho, Plastics, Vascular, and Urology, with procedures ranging from spine to thoracic surgeries. The candidate must be flexible with a rare requirement to float and possess strong skills in trauma, pediatric, and general recovery care.
