Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse Asheville, North Carolina. This position involves providing specialized patient care for individuals undergoing cardiovascular surgery, thoracic lung surgery, and other complex procedures in a fast-paced hospital environment. The role requires working on dayshift schedules, supporting a dynamic clinical team dedicated to high-quality patient outcomes.

Job Details

  • Position Description: The role is situated within the Cardiovascular Progressive Care unit, supporting patients post-operations such as open heart surgery, thoracic lung procedures, and vascular surgeries. The unit handles overflow medical cardiology cases including heart failure, sepsis, and chest pain.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications; Bachelors Degree in Nursing or equivalent; NC licensure; 0 years of experience; location to be Asheville, North Carolina.
  • Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: The unit has approximately 40 beds with a staff of around 100, including RNs and PCTs. Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps. The unit emphasizes a team-focused, flexible approach, requiring candidates to function effectively in a fast-paced environment without on-call duties. Weekend shifts are required, with minimum six weekend days every six weeks.
