Job Summary
Medical-Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) The organization is seeking experienced registered nurses for a Medical-Surgical unit at their healthcare facility. The position involves providing compassionate care to medical and telemetry patients in an acute care setting, with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes.

Job Details

• Location: Medical-Surgical Floor at the organization
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days (7:00 AM 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM 7:30 AM), minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that application process has been initiated, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, minimum 1 year of relevant experience
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in telemetry, managing common diagnoses such as heart failure, diabetic conditions, and end-of-life care; ability to monitor telemetry equipment including Space Lab monitors; proficiency in electronic charting using EPIC system; flexibility to float to other units as needed
• Additional Information:
  • Unit notes specify patient ratios of 1:4-5 during days and 1:5 at night, with occasional float to MedSurg and ICU for overflow.
  • Nurses are required to work every other weekend and holiday, with specific days designated for each.
  • No vents, but BiPap and Cpap equipment are monitored by RTs; nurses do not handle these devices beyond troubleshooting.
  • Charge nurses also take assignments, and nurse aides or patient care technicians assist as needed.
  • Orientation typically involves two shifts, with consideration for three if necessary.
  • Charting is completed in the EPIC system.
