Job Summary
The Healthcare Professional: ICU Neurological Nurse is based in Wausau and specializes in neuro-critical care. This role involves providing specialized nursing care to patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgical cases, within a dedicated Neuro Intensive Care Unit.

Job Details

• Certification and Education Requirements: WI RN License, BLS, and ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, NIHSS, and associate degree or certificate.
• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably with Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU backgrounds, including assessment skills in neurology.
• Responsibilities include conducting neuro assessments, performing bedside ICU procedures such as line placements and intubation, and managing neuro-specific interventions like bolt and drain bedside placements with neurosurgery.
• Unit Information: The role operates within an 8-bed Neuro unit caring for stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery patients, with experience as a neuro interventionalist being advantageous.
• Float: Float rotation may be required between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units, and potentially other inpatient units as needed.
• Additional Information: Candidates should be resilient, able to manage independently, and adapt to change. Social candidates must manage tasks independently and complete them timely. Uniform scrub color is flexible. The unit typically experiences low census in 4-hour increments and may call for work in 4 or 8-hour blocks, not considered on call. During flu season, staff declining flu and COVID vaccinations must wear a mask at all times as per policy.
