Description
Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician ORT located in the area. This position involves supporting surgical teams to ensure the safety and success of operative procedures. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the surgical technician will assist with preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile fields, and responding to emergency situations to ensure a safe surgical environment.
Job Details
- Maintains accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
- Maintains the sterile field and ensures a safe environment.
- Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
- Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
- May assist with sterile processing.
- Assists the surgeon(s) during the procedure while staying within the ORT scope of practice.
- Can identify emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
- Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of the procedure.
- Schedule: Night shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1900 to 0700, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Certifications required: CO License (DORA), NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist, BLS (AHA).
- Education: Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months, or two years of scrub tech experience within the last three years.
- Required Skills & Experience: Demonstrates the ability to maintain a sterile field, understand sterile processing, respond appropriately in emergency situations, and has experience supporting surgical teams and life support situations related to surgical care.
