Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in a healthcare facility located in the area. This role involves providing patient care on a Medical/Surgical unit focused on a variety of diagnoses, including congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure. The position requires working night shifts as part of a rotating schedule.

• Shift: Nights, 11.5 hours per shift, minimum of 34.5 hours per week

• End Date: 01/25/2027
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), minimum of 2 years of experience
• Preferred Qualifications: NIHSS certification
• Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care on a Medical/Surgical unit with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4
  • Read telemetry strips independently, including for patients on Cpap, BiPap, high flow, vents, etc.
  • Titrate drips such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives as needed
  • Collaborate with team members and assist with patient monitoring and assessments
  • Self-schedule shifts and support unit needs, including weekends and holidays as required
  • Participate in unit orientation during the week of start date
  • Obtain and submit necessary licenses to work on the unit and fulfill charting requirements using EPIC system
• Additional Information:
  • The unit covers adult patients with a focus on acute care for conditions like COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, gastrointestinal emergencies, and cardiac issues.
  • May need to float within Zone 4 based on department needs.
  • No charge nurse or house supervisor responsibilities outside of standard clinical duties.
  • The unit emphasizes safety, timely patient care, and adherence to certifications and licensing standards.
