Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse Night Shift Location: Not Specified. This role involves providing acute care in a high-volume emergency department with approximately 90 to 100 patients treated daily. The ER is a Level STEMI Receiving Stroke Center with trauma level 2 designation, equipped with advanced trauma bays and specialized patient care areas.

Job Details

  • Position Description:
    Provides emergency nursing care in a fast-paced environment, managing acute conditions such as chest pain, stroke, shortness of breath, and sepsis. The ER features a Fast Track area, Triage capabilities, and separate Psych/seclusion rooms. The unit operates with in-house security 24/7 and houses a total of 30 beds, including 4 trauma beds.
  • Required Qualifications:
    Includes Certifications (Basic Life Support BLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS, Emergency Nurses Association Stroke Scale NIHSS), Education requirements, and a minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency nursing. The position requires licensure to submit, and the shift is scheduled for nights with 12 hours per shift, totaling at least 36 hours weekly.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience with pressors, Heparin, sedation, and familiarity with trauma and stroke patient management are preferred.
  • Schedule:
    Night shifts, 12 hours each, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information:
    The role includes self-scheduling with manager oversight, rotation through different ERs (floating), and assignment to shifts on weekends and holidays as pre-scheduled. RN staff are responsible for troubleshooting respiratory equipment and reading their own telemetry strips, with central monitoring available. The unit uses EPIC charting and requires adherence to hospital policies around cancellations and shift coverage.
