Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse in Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized care for critically ill neonates within a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The role emphasizes patient- and family-centered care, utilizing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services for high-acuity neonatal patients.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provide care for critically ill newborns, infants, and their families across the continuum of care, from admission to discharge, in a 26-bed Level IV NICU. The unit cares for high-acuity neonates requiring surgical interventions, complex diagnoses, and advanced respiratory support.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) are required.
- Education and Licensing: WI RN license or valid compact license, with at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in neonatal or pediatric intensive care.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week. The schedule includes day/night shifts, typically Monday through Friday, with 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week cycle.
- Additional Responsibilities: Care for post-operative patients, manage g-tubes, trach/ventilation devices, invasive/noninvasive ventilation modes, and other advanced neonatal procedures.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to care for patients less than 12 months of age across all units including PICU.
- Submission Requirements: Candidates must meet strict pass/fail testing criteria in cardiac rhythm interpretation assessments, with two attempts allowed, and provide proof of successful testing prior to start.
