Description
Job Summary
Registered Nurse Post Anesthesia Care Unit. This position provides complex postoperative recovery care for outpatient and inpatient surgical patients, including individuals requiring intensive monitoring and intervention. The role requires strong assessment capabilities, critical-care-level skills, and flexibility across preoperative and recovery areas.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend rotation is not scheduled but may change based on operational needs. Holiday coverage and on-call availability may be required.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); complex postoperative recovery experience; intensive-care-level skills managing ventilators, multiple intravenous drips, spinal drains, and lines; strong assessment skills; willingness to learn and adapt; previous travel experience required.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Patient assignments typically range from 1:1 to 1:2. The role supports preoperative, Phase I recovery, Phase II recovery, and adjacent recovery areas. Patient populations include complex orthopedic, ear, nose, and throat, general surgical, transplant, endovascular, cardiac, thoracic, neurological, spine, podiatric, urological, and reconstructive procedures. Orientation includes required learning modules and 23 full shifts within the department.
