Note : Local candidates will not be considered. Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position. 

Position Highlights : 

• Acute-care Med/Surg environment with a strong surgical focus
• Care for patients before and after surgical procedures
• Stepdown/PCU-level patients may be assigned
• Typical ratios:
  • 5:1 for surgical patients
  • 3:1 for stepdown patients
• Experience with complex post-operative patient care is essential

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience
• Recent acute-care Med/Surg experience
• Strong surgical/acute-care floor experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required
• Experience caring for patients with:
  • New drains
  • Surgical wounds
  • Tracheostomies
  • Ostomies
  • NGT/DHT
  • Post-operative complications and recovery needs
• OR-only experience is not sufficient for this position

Preferred Experience

• ENT experience
• Transplant experience
• Additional stepdown or higher-acuity experience

Manager comments : This is a med/surg unit. Will not accept OR candidates. Stepdown/PCU experience is required Must have acute care surgical floor experience. ENT and/or Transplant Experience Preferred • Nurses for this unit need Med Surg experience as this floor has inpatients pre or post-surgical services-mostly surgical experience is needed. • 4E 61000 candidates will care for patients post operatively and need to have experiences taking care of patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT. Some of these patients will be Step down care as well. Ratios are 5 or 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for SD area.

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize patient needs
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively respond to diverse cultural and language needs
• Basic computer proficiency

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program

Licensure & Certifications

• Current RN license in the applicable state or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
