Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of up to 1:7
- Manage and care for patients with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI
- Titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results as required
- Monitor and manage patients on intermittent BiPAP; unit does not utilize ventilators
- Collaborate with PCTs and coordinate with remote monitor technicians overseeing telemetry
- Float to other units as needed based on census; travelers are floated first
Required Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission)
- Current BLS certification (must be unexpired)
- Current NIHSS certification (must be unexpired)
- Comfort with nurse-to-patient ratios up to 1:7
- Availability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled (typically half of total weekends)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Medical Surgical setting with telemetry monitoring
- Familiarity with heparin drip titration protocols
- Experience with intermittent BiPAP management
