Registered Nurse – NICU
Location
Lincoln, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM rotation | Every other weekend required | 2 extra shifts required per 6-week period
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to neonatal patients in a Level III NICU setting following AWHONN/NANN staffing guidelines
- Manage ventilators and central lines for neonatal patients requiring intensive and multi-system support care
- Float to Mother-Baby or Labor and Delivery units as needed to serve as baby nurse or transition nurse for newborns
- Deliver care to well newborns on the mother-baby unit in coordination with other nursing staff
- Occasionally serve as a safety advocate or assist with tasks on other units as needed on a rotating basis
- Participate in orientation requirements including a skills-based open-book assessment requiring a minimum passing score of 90%
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 3 years of NICU experience
- Current BLS certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Experience with ventilators and central lines in a neonatal population
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills with ability to work independently
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Familiarity with AWHONN and NANN clinical practice guidelines
- Experience in a high-acuity Level III NICU environment
- Comfort floating between NICU, Mother-Baby, and Labor and Delivery units
