Travel Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC / Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Full-Time | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit serving CV surgery, vascular surgery, and overflow medical cardiology patients
  • Manage epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, and IV glucommander protocols
  • Administer and titrate cardiac drips including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry for a patient population that includes post-open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic surgery, AAA repair, and medical cardiology diagnoses such as heart failure, sepsis, and DKA
  • Operate Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lifts; document in Cerner EMR
  • Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units; fulfill minimum weekend shift requirements and holiday flexibility

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Stepdown (PCU/IMC) experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior experience within the past year with CV surgery and vascular surgery patient populations (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
  • CVICU background
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
