Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown (Float Pool)

Prescott, AZ
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Every other weekend required | Holidays included in rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Float across MedSurg Tele and PCU units on multiple campuses, including coverage for inpatients holding in the ED
- Manage and titrate drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
- Care for a diverse patient population including geriatric, orthopedic, post-MI, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-CABG (day 3–4) patients, including groin site management in the stepdown unit
- Interpret cardiac monitor strips; monitor techs are available for PCU and MedSurg Tele units
- Manage respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and Heated High Flow in applicable units
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 in PCU and 1:5–6 in MedSurg Tele, with nurse aide support available across all settings
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in good standing
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a PCU setting
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract start
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythm strips independently
- Comfort managing the majority of titratable drips listed above
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior float pool or multi-unit experience in a hospital setting
- Experience caring for post-procedural cardiac patients, including post-cath and post-CABG populations
- Familiarity with respiratory support modalities including BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow
