Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and titrate physician-ordered drips per protocol in an ICU environment
• Care for patients presenting with strokes (with/without tPA), ventriculostomy needs, and post-craniectomy status
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips using Philips monitoring equipment alongside a dedicated tele tech
• Manage ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, and respiratory therapy equipment including troubleshooting as needed
• Float to lower levels of care (intermediate or general floor) as staffing requires, with travelers floating first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification required
• Demonstrated experience with ventriculostomy, arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, and tPA administration
• Experience with acute stroke management and post-craniectomy care
• Must comply with drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel or contract nursing experience in a Neuro ICU or comparable critical care setting
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems and strip interpretation
• Experience managing a wide variety of titratable drips in a high-acuity ICU environment
