Job Title
Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown
Location
Wilmington, NC
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13–26 Weeks | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 36 Hours/Week) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients with diagnoses including congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac catheterization
- Monitor and interpret dysrhythmias via telemetry and remote monitoring systems
- Manage and titrate cardiac drips including Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Diltiazem, Milrinone, and Dopamine
- Perform sheath pulls, TR Band, and Femstop procedures; provide pre- and post-cardiac cath and pre- and post-cardiac surgery care
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, and port access; administer blood products
- Float to other units as needed, potentially every shift; participate in storm, hurricane, or disaster response teams as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Telemetry AND PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
- Demonstrated ability to interpret dysrhythmias and perform remote monitoring
- Experience with sheath removal, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery
- Active ACLS certification required
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Charge nurse experience
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
