Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Observation Unit
Location
Albany, GA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Every Other Weekend Required | Rotating Holidays
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 22-bed medical observation unit with a 1:5 or 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment
- Monitor and manage telemetry for patients on a heavy tele unit supported by central monitoring; independently read and interpret EKG strips
- Administer and manage set-rate drips, including Heparin, in accordance with facility protocols
- Perform EKGs and draw patient labs independently as required by the unit
- Facilitate high-volume patient discharges and admissions, with up to 16 discharges per day and continuous unit refill
- Float to medical surgical units as needed and occasionally assume charge nurse responsibilities with a patient assignment
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Minimum 2 years of registered nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
- Current BLS certification (required)
- Current NIHSS certification (required)
- Ability to work every other weekend and rotate holidays with permanent staff
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Current ACLS certification (highly recommended)
- Experience in a medical observation or medical surgical unit setting
- Familiarity with high-volume admission and discharge workflows
