Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
Location
Pendleton, OR
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 19-bed Medical Surgical unit with a maximum ratio of 1 RN to 5 patients on nights
- Manage common diagnoses including CHF, diabetic complications and wounds, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, and post-operative patients (TURPs, hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomy, appendectomy)
- Infrequently titrate drips such as Heparin and Bumex as needed
- Monitor and respond to telemetry in coordination with CCU staff; telemetry board is visible to Med-Surg staff
- Support care of general pediatric patients as needed in addition to adult medical-surgical population
- Float to other departments as "helping hands" when needed; option to fully cross-train to other departments
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; Oregon license required (OR 90-Day Emergency License available for clinicians without an active OR license at time of submittal)
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Minimum of 1 year of general medical-surgical nursing experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and strip reading
- Prior experience with pediatric patient populations in a general med-surg setting
