Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Neurology
Location
Wilmington, NC
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | 13–26 week assignment | 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Neurology unit with a focus on general medicine and neurological diagnoses
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:6, applying a teamwork-based approach with a strong emphasis on patient safety
- Utilize Pyxis for medication administration, EPIC for clinical documentation, and SBAR for communication
- Float to other units within the facility as required; travelers are expected to float first
- Fulfill weekend shift requirements, approximately every other weekend (5–6 weekend shifts per contract period)
- Be available to serve on a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact nursing license
- Minimum of 2 years of registered nursing experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Demonstrated teamwork approach to patient care with a focus on patient safety
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIH Stroke Scale certification or prior neurology nursing experience
- Experience in or willingness to learn the charge nurse role
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
