Travel RN – Orthopedic Med/Surg (Night Shift)

Dallas, Texas

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Travel | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a post-surgical orthopedic unit with a patient ratio of 1:5 with ancillary support
  • Monitor and manage patients recovering from procedures including joint reconstruction, hip and knee surgery, lumbar and cervical disc surgery, orthopedic spine surgery, and Tarlov/meningeal cyst removal
  • Operate and manage unit equipment including PCA pumps, IV pumps, telemetry boxes, ice machines, and vital sign machines
  • Document patient care accurately using Meditech EMR
  • Float within the health system to Telemetry or other units as needed based on census demands
  • Maintain a high standard of care during peak volume periods, particularly mid-week

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas or compact state eligibility
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Med/Surg clinical background
  • Ability to commit to assigned shifts with limited time-off requests

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Orthopedic nursing experience
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Familiarity with Meditech EMR
