Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown
Location
Omaha, NE
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts); 6-week scheduling rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting, managing a mixed medical/surgical patient population including cardiac and stroke patients
- Titrate drips including Heparin, octreotide, and insulin, as well as administer maintenance IV medications
- Read and interpret telemetry monitoring for assigned patients
- Manage frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges in a high-flow unit environment
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and unit support staff to maintain safe patient ratios (1:4 nurse-to-patient)
- Float to other units including Med/Surg and, based on abilities, ICU/ED as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac monitoring
- Ability to titrate IV drips independently
- Must pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
- Artificial nails are prohibited; compliance with facility fingernail policy is required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or IMC setting
- Familiarity with specialty equipment such as LUCAS machines, Hoyer lifts, and code carts
- Experience caring for cardiac and stroke patient populations
