Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 13-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 (may vary to 1:1 or 1:3 based on acuity)
• Manage complex patient populations including post-surgical, open abdomens, multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases
• Titrate drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin per protocol
• Read and interpret cardiac monitor strips independently; monitor techs are available on the unit
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapy (available 24/7), charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care techs to deliver comprehensive care
• Float to lower levels of care as needed, including stepdown and general medical units, taking on appropriate patient assignments

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• ICU experience required
• Level I trauma experience required
• Ability to titrate vasoactive and sedation drips
• Must be able to comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with ventilator management and respiratory equipment including CPAP and BiPAP
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records
• Experience working with endovascular or open abdomen patient populations
