Registered Nurse – NICU
Location
San Diego, CA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12 Hours (19:00–07:00)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity Level 4 NICU setting, including pre- and post-operative care for neonatal surgical patients
- Manage and monitor advanced respiratory support including oscillator, conventional ventilator, CPAP, nasal cannula, and specialty gases
- Maintain and manage vascular access including PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC, UVC, and PAL lines, including line changes with multiple drips
- Care for patients with trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes, demonstrating comfort with complex neonatal conditions
- Float within scope of practice to other units (PICU, CTICU, Med Surg) and satellite NICU campuses as needed; mileage reimbursed from home base location
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a Magnet-recognized, teaching facility environment
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license (or confirmed ETA for posting prior to start date)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience (or strong surgical experience from a Level 3 NICU that performs surgeries on newborns)
- BLS certification (current)
- Advanced NRP certification (current)
- Cardiac experience
- Must have personal transportation; willingness to float to satellite locations required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- PALS certification
- Experience with Epic EMR
- Previous travel nursing experience (first-time travelers with Level 4 NICU experience will be considered)
