Registered Nurse – Emergency Room
Location
Gardner, MA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 36 Hours per Week | 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM | Varied Schedule Sunday through Saturday | Every Other Weekend | Every Other Holiday
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions, plans of care, and patient goals in accordance with established standards of care, protocols, and policies.
- Perform initial patient assessments upon arrival, implement triage protocols, and accurately identify cardiac arrhythmias and abnormal laboratory or diagnostic results, notifying the physician in a timely manner.
- Safely administer medications, intravenous therapy, and vasoactive medications in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and policies; assess and reassess patient pain levels and document responses.
- Identify patients at risk for abuse or violent behavior, initiate appropriate safety plans, complete mandated reporting, and maintain chain of forensic evidence per policy.
- Provide thorough and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses; deliver timely and complete patient reports to health care team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaborate with patients and families to plan and prepare for discharge, incorporating appropriate support systems and resources.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Massachusetts.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire; AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification preferred.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential preferred.
