Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Weekend requirement applies (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block) | One holiday required per 13-week contract

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
• Monitor and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias; participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (non-titrating); maintain central and peripheral line care
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Monitor patients in dedicated continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring beds
• Maintain isolation precautions and float to other units within clinical skillset as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Competency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and line care
• Comfort with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Neuro PCU, IMC, or Stepdown unit setting
• Familiarity with neurosurgical recovery and stroke management protocols
• Experience with epilepsy monitoring unit care
