Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic Focus)

Contract | 13-Week Assignment | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (3x12, 36 or 48 hours per week available) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a fast-paced Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit serving orthopedic, neuro spine, post-surgical, and general med-surg patient populations
- Manage pain assessment and pain management protocols for orthopedic and spine patients
- Perform IV starts and continuous telemetry monitoring
- Maintain patient ratios of 5–6:1, with occasional flex up to 7:1 in extreme circumstances
- Adhere to every-other-weekend requirement, with makeup shifts required if a scheduled weekend is missed
- Float to other med-surg units within the facility as needed to meet staffing and census demands
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated orthopedic nursing experience required
- Current BLS (BCLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Proficiency with IV insertion and telemetry monitoring
- Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification
- Charge nurse experience
- Level I Trauma experience
- Experience with Epic EMR (required for first-time travelers)
