Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical

Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-Hour Shifts)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF patient population
- Perform and manage clinical skills including remote telemetry monitoring, chest tube care, NG/PEG tube management, straight cath/Foley insertion, ostomy care, Heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health record system
- Float within skillset to a nearby campus with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus may also be required
- Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
- May be required to precept nursing students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Current, active RN Compact License required
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent EPIC charting experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage change effectively
- Experience with high-acuity Med-Surg patient populations including sepsis and post-surgical care
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
