Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown Float
Location
Roanoke, VA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Float between PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs are re-evaluated; floating may occur up to every 4 hours within a shift
- Provide stepdown-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titrating cardiac drips
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration; manage PCA and heparin protocols and administer IV insulin
- Manage central line care, trach care, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response and Code teams
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia State or Compact RN license (pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Demonstrated experience in PCU, stepdown, IMC, or DOU-level care; must be comfortable working all PCU and Medical-Surgical units
- Ability to meet weekend requirements (every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block) and work at least one holiday per 13-week contract
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered (distance calculated from address on Driver's License)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Background managing endocrine and metabolic conditions
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are also accepted)
