Registered Nurse – ICU
Location
Wilmington, NC

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Medical Intensive Care Unit setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Monitor, interpret, and manage dysrhythmias; titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips as indicated
- Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and interpretation of arterial blood gases
- Perform and assist with specialized procedures including central line care, arterial line management, chest tube assistance, and invasive monitoring
- Administer blood products, TPN/lipids, continuous IV sedation, and emergency and procedural sedation medications
- Float to Med/Surg as needed; work a minimum of every other weekend with at least 6 weekend shifts per contract
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in NC or a Compact state (pending license acceptable for submission)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience; first-time travelers not accepted
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with central line care, arterial lines, IV insulin protocols, and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Experience managing patients with sepsis, DKA, COPD, and heart failure diagnoses
- Familiarity with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication framework
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in CVICU, Neuro ICU, or Surgical ICU settings
- PICC line management and post-cardiac surgery care experience (not directly from OR)
- Previous charge nurse experience and/or community hospital background
- Experience with thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols) and GI surgery patients
