Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' level of functioning upon physician orders and plan, implement, and document appropriate occupational therapy treatment based on evaluation findings and patient and family goals
• Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including team conferences, to collaborate on patient care and provide pertinent clinical information
• Manage the full discharge planning process, including patient and family education, equipment recommendations and training, and documentation of discharge disposition
• Complete all required documentation including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, and independent treatment program recommendations within defined timeframes and per department policy
• Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT or COTA students in the application of occupational therapy theory and techniques
• Promote patient and employee safety across all key areas including safe patient handling, infection control, and fall prevention

Required Qualifications

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Florida
• Ability to assess patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and administer appropriate evaluation procedures
• Demonstrated ability to supervise COTAs and students competently
• Strong documentation skills with the ability to complete thorough and timely clinical records
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and quality improvement practices

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working within an interdisciplinary team environment in an inpatient or rehabilitation setting
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment selection, issuance, and patient and family training
• Experience with new staff orientation and mentorship
