Travel RN – Critical Care / ICU (Nights)

Alexandria, Louisiana
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Full-Time | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | 36 or 48 hours per week guarantee available | Every other weekend required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned ICU patients in a mixed cardiac and medical critical care setting
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed therapies
- Manage and monitor advanced hemodynamic support devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Impellas, and CRRT
- Care for post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients as well as patients presenting with DKA, acute respiratory failure, MIs, CABGs, and ventilator dependence
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly
- Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education and identify appropriate resources
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in state of employment or valid compact license
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Impellas, post-operative cardiovascular surgeries, and CRRT
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a critical care nursing setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience caring for a mixed cardiac and medical ICU patient population including ventilator management
- Familiarity with nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1 for ICU and 4:1 for IMCU environments
