Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Neuro Cardiac Unit)

Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to complex Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patients including post cardiac cath with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology, and post-craniotomy patients
• Perform NIHSS and dysphagia screenings along with strong neurological assessments
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; initiate and titrate drips including insulin, cardiac, and heparin infusions
• Perform heart cath recovery including femoral and TR band management
• Float within skillset to sister campuses as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice for cross-campus floats
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires in this teaching environment

Required Qualifications

• Current, active compact RN license
• AHA BLS certification (must be current)
• NIHSS certification (must be current)
• Minimum of two years of recent Telemetry/Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Must pass facility telemetry competency testing

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with NG/PEG tubes and PIV insertion
• Familiarity with Tikosyn dosing and chest tube management
• Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and interpersonal communication skills
