Registered Nurse – ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
Location
Chesapeake, VA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 3x12-hour shifts | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the ICU with typical patient ratios of 1:2–3
- Manage ventilators, IV drip titration, and continuous telemetry monitoring
- Perform dysrhythmia recognition and management, including emergency critical care response
- Administer and monitor conscious sedation per unit protocols
- Float as needed to Stepdown, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU-held patients
- Work every other weekend, required holidays within the contract, and two of three winter holidays
Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
- Proficiency in Epic EHR — no exceptions
- BLS certification from American Heart Association only
- ACLS certification from American Heart Association only
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Must pass an EKG/telemetry competency test with a score of 80% or higher (one attempt; no remediation available)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum three years of critical care experience strongly preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
- Strong neuro critical care background
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
