Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Observation)

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM, 12-Hour Shifts) | Guaranteed 36 Hours per Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for an observation/medical-surgical unit with a 23-bed capacity, managing a diverse patient population including cardiac, neurological, post-surgical, GI/urology, and detox/CIWA cases
• Perform cardiac cath recovery (femoral and TR bands), NIHSS and neuro assessments, and dysphagia screenings
• Initiate and titrate drips including Heparin and Insulin; manage indwelling drains, straight cath/foley care, and NG tube insertion
• Administer and document blood products; apply strong assessment and critical thinking skills throughout all patient interactions
• Float within skillset to a secondary campus location with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also required
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Current, active compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of two years of recent, strong Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with cardiac cath recovery, post-surgical care (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, kidney stones), and neuro patient populations
• Familiarity with CIWA protocol and detox patient management
• Experience with blood administration documentation and indwelling drain management
