Registered Nurse – NICU

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Level II NICU and Special Care Nursery (SCN) setting, managing a caseload of neonatal patients including those requiring high-acuity respiratory support such as mechanical ventilation, CPAP, RAM cannula, and Vapotherm.
  • Care for neonates presenting with diagnoses including hyperbilirubinemia, meconium aspiration, respiratory distress syndrome, PPHN, IUGR, NAS, TTN, sepsis, and other complex neonatal conditions.
  • Manage and monitor specialized lines and procedures including PICC lines, UACs, UVCs, chest tubes, exchange transfusions, and passive cooling protocols.
  • Collaborate with NNPs (available 24/7), neonatologists, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy teams to deliver coordinated neonatal care.
  • Participate in self-scheduling, fulfill weekend shift requirements (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule), and rotate into the facility holiday schedule alongside permanent staff.
  • Occasionally assume charge nurse responsibilities based on unit census.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years of Level II NICU experience; experience must be recent (within the past 6 months).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • Must successfully complete a pass/fail Simulation Lab competency assessment (Foley catheter insertion) on Day 1 of orientation.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Level III NICU experience strongly preferred.
  • STABLE Program certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with GE monitoring systems and ventilators including Puritan Bennett 840, Draeger, Vision BiPAP, and V60.
