Registered Nurse – ICU (MICU)
Location

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
- Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems; read and document rhythm interpretations independently
- Manage and titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive drips per physician-outlined parameters
- Provide advanced care for ventilated patients, including management of arterial lines, central lines, and respiratory therapy equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high-flow)
- Collaborate with intensivists, telemedicine intensivist support, charge RNs, house supervisors, and patient care technicians across all shifts
- Float to step-down or general medical units as needed, adjusting patient assignments accordingly (up to 3–4 patients)
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm strip reading
- Experience with arterial lines, central lines, and care of ventilated patients
- Demonstrated ability to titrate vasopressors and other vasoactive/cardioactive medications
- Must be able to pass a drug screen; position is located on a drug-free campus
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior travel nursing experience in a Medical ICU or critical care setting
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health records
- Experience managing patients with COVID-19 in an ICU environment
